What is Reiki Healing Good For?

Updated: Jan 11

What is Reiki Healing?

Reiki is a non-intrusive energy healing technique. It takes into account the whole person and helps activate each patient’s natural healing processes as well as restoring their physical and emotional well-being. Each person's experience will differ - with the ultimate goal of restoring natural balance, finding feelings of peace, centeredness and an ability to step forward.

What are the health benefits of Reiki?

Reiki is linked to a range of physical and emotional health benefits, including better sleep, improved mood, and pain relief in published studies. Research also suggests Reiki helps the body return to a state of relaxation, which allows it to better heal from damage brought on by stress, injury, or disease.

Reiki promotes general stress reduction, therefore encourages relaxation and symptom relief to improve overall health and well-being.

It has the ability to:

· Bring on a meditative state.

· Foster tissue and bone healing after injury or surgery.

· Stimulate your body’s immune system.

· Promote natural self-healing.

· Relieve pain and tension.

· Support the well-being of people receiving traditional medical treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and kidney dialysis.

Studies show that reiki treatment can also create feelings of:

· Peace.

· Relaxation.

· Security.

· Wellness.

Can Reiki Heal Trauma?

Reiki is an energy system that can release stuck, blocked and stagnant energy therefore encouraging healthy and pure energy to flow in its place, which in turn activates and promotes the body’s self-healing.

Reiki is particularly useful for healing trauma, because the energy that is held in the body after a trauma occurs is of low vibration which blocks the natural flow of energy.

Once these blockages take place our energy becomes denser and heavier both emotionally and psychologically. Reiki helps to open and reset the healthy flow of energy.

Reiki can clear out the blockages on all levels whether emotional, physical or spiritual trauma, aiding the healing process.

In addition to Reiki, Amnanda Treatments are also highly beneficial in the healing of trauma.

Can Reiki Boost Mood and Sleep?

Researchers at Harvard Medical School followed 99 patients at multiple sites to determine the effects of a single reiki session. The study—a single arm effectiveness study published in 2019 in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, found statistically significant improvements in anxiety and depression symptoms, as well as pain and nausea.

What happens during a Reiki session?

Reiki treatments typically last about 50 minutes. During a Reiki treatment, you will lie on a massage table fully clothed, as your reiki practitioner gently places their hands, palms down, on or just above your body in specific energy locations.

The length of time that the practitioner leaves their hands in each position is determined by the flow of energy through their hands at each specific location.

Reiki differs from other touch therapies in that there is no pressure, massage or manipulation involved.

What does Reiki feel like?

You may experience the energy in the form of sensations like tingling, heat, waves or pulsing where the Reiki practitioner has placed their hands. Sometimes, people feel sensations moving throughout the body, while other people do not perceive any change at all.

Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful during reiki treatment, and quite often fall asleep during the process.

What else should I know?

Reiki has no contraindications; it is regarded as a completely safe and gentle practice. Treatments do not include manipulation; nothing is ingested and nothing is applied to the skin.
